I was recently interviewed by The Washington Post for an article on how to effectively navigate a job fair.
I view job fairs as functions similar to networking events. Rather than trying to meet every employer at the event, do some research ahead of time on which employers will be there and target a few of them using a well crafted elevator pitch that quickly demonstrates your value to employers. The event shouldn’t be perceived as a way to quickly disseminate your resume, but rather as an opportunity to build rapport with a few key people.
